I remember once when I was in college in Urbana working at the Osco by the mall in the camera section. I was selling lottery tickets to an African-American man who was a regular customer. The next customer, a white guy, made a comment like "those people, welfare, etc.". It just pissed me off and I told him what I thought of it. We have no time to keep focusing on our differences. How about just enjoying one another for who we are. On the plus side, it seems like the newest generation cares a lot of less about such b.s. My kids and their friends seem not to care.

We were chatting about a sandwich place in town, and how great the food is. She said they got a bad sandwich one time, I said that if the one lady is cooking, the food is ALWAYS good! Then I asked if she had ever met the lady's son. She said, "Yes". The adult son and his friends came in, and that's when she said they felt uneasy. I DID say something - I said, "You're ridiculous! Byron and his friends are funny and very nice! Have you ever talked to them?" She went on to describe how they came slowly, backed up (probably looking for the right table to sit at), and finally sat down. Ohhhhh, they were dangerous, according to her. WTF!! I told her she was not being fair to those guys, I didn't make a big deal of it, since we were at her work, but I DID say something.]

That's nothing...That's not necessarily being racist either. Anyone can have an uneasy feeling about anyone. You should have invited Byron and his friends to sit with you.

Racism is still a problem but I think it's getting better. I see no signs of it in my grandkids.

First I wonder what she said about the two men...Big dick? Dance well? Make a white woman sweat? I mean, there's "Racist" and then there is being overly sensitive about virtually nothing , thanks to propagated pc mentalities.

But then if being racist is against your grain, then why didn't you say something in support of the two men?

Interesting post, racism alive a well in America. And in the White House. Fear of the unknown, me first, I have more so you're less than. Living with racism , you have good days, and bad. The good one's are when you ignore it, the bad ones when it gets to you. It knows no gender, or color, but it's ever present. But what's really sad is, you only get one chance at life. This is not a dress rehearsal. SMH. Hate the cold weather, bring on the summer lol.

You all just said what I was thinking yesterday. Such a pity. I felt as if I was talking to my Grandma 40 years ago.

Have a great day, and be nice to one another.

Unfortunately we as the human race forget that we are all brothers and sisters in this world. Being a visual creature we obtain the majority of our data through vision and we (being supposedly intelligent) tend to categorize everything visually. There is only one race Luv. People who can't get past visual differences, I pity them. Jimmy B.

My blog JimmyB7474 is called Into The Woods (erotica) entertaining stories about a guy named Jimmy. Enjoy.

Most racism stems from little contact with other races/groups. Most reasonable people quickly see that people are decent and want much the same things from life regardless of ethnicity, religion, sexual preference. Also, they know that there are bigots everywhere - the trick is to pity them for their stupidity and lack of experience. Travel broadens the mind - some people never set foot outside their own home towns, it seems!
