So sad.

Some of you know I work in a Nursing home. The one I work at also has Assisted Living Apartments.

Today was their Christmas lunch where only one family member could be invited... at a cost .

Most had their families enjoying time with their loved ones, the first time they've been able to spend with them since the lock down, but there were the odd few who spent more time on their phones or not speaking to their so called loved ones.

You could see that they were thinking... how long before I can leave. It was heart breaking to see.

One lady was so proud to point out to me it was her son with her. He was the one using his phone most of the time. He was obviously wondering how long it would be before he could leave.

These are the residents, who most can still have a conversation.

Glad I won't be involved in the Nursing Home Christmas lunches, it'sad enough just seeing them all alone with no visitors, that is until they are about to take their last breath, then the room is full of relatives who never bothered to visit.

I understand that some live a long distance away, but there are so many that are... just too busy.

No I haven't been drinking, for bits of this not to make sense. Been a long time since I've done a post, and the site managed to stuff it up. I'll try and fix it, but if it's still a bit out of sorts.... it wasn't me.

It is sad to see many people dying with no loved ones near them because of the virus. I hope you are ok. It is good to see you back.

Always sad to see people act like that...and sad you have to see it when you're working.
Stay safe sweetie.
Hugs.

It is desperately sad. Today is the first day that our Nursing Home residents are allowed visitors. They have been banned for months. I hope they all get to see someone and actually talk to them. It would be good if the visitors left their phones behind....but that won't happen.

I know it couldnt happen, but it would be nice...if phones of visitors.were banned from the facility . people know to leave them in the car or surrender them when they come in the door. After all they are a source of transmission...or it could be stated that they are...~~

I guess some of them used the excuse of the virus. We allowed visits of loved ones to those that were dying. They had their temperatures taken and asked if they'd been in any hotspots and had to wear a mask.

Some could visit outside the glass doors and speak to their loved ones on the company phone.

All good here in NSW. Always been pretty safe up here in the mountains. Hope all is good with you. Thanks for the welcome back. Been meaning to do a blog for a while, but was blog dead.

I guess it's all part of the job, but never easy.

Sorry for being slack in getting back to you. Will do in the next day or two. x

It was total lock down for a few months, but things have eased up seeing as how there's been no cases for quite a while. Nice to see it's not the number 1 item on the news.

How would some of them cope without their phones? Even if it was only for a short time.

Thanks for popping in and leaving a comment.

I hate how phones have become more important to some people than actually talking to the person with them. Not only in the Nursing Home etc but even when they are out and about with friends.

Your thoughts are very sad and very real.
It breaks my heart to think of those people and the loneliness they feel. ❤️❗

So long since I've done a blog, and it's not one of my funny ones.

Just had to vent, and couldn't do it on the facey page.... someone would see it and report me at work.

Will have to put on my thinking cap and try and do a happier blog next time.

it is sad. its one of them things I look at and think " I hope that doesn't end up being me."

My youngest, along with a friend of his, both threaten to put me in one of them places, the one that is free. I tell him, you get what you pay for. He looks and smiles

Nice to see you pop in.

Don't know if you know the movie... Thelma & Louise, I've told my son and friends... that's the way I'd like to go. If you don't know the movie, let me know and I'll tell you.

Thelma and Louise was a good movie, but, some 15 yrs before that was a movie called "The Great Texas Dynamite Chase!" Two girls that meet by chance! Robbed a few banks and moved to Mexico!! Thats the way to go out!!!

Not heard of that movie, but will keep an eye open should it be re played. A bit of extra cash and a move sounds a go.
