Stroke Can Happen At Any Age

No - not the kind you might be thinking of given this is a sex site.
The recent shocking death of 52-year-old Luke Perry, who starred in "Beverly Hills 90210" and "Riverdale," has many people talking about stroke risk factors and warning signs. Did you know, there are risk of stroke at any age?

From the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, here's what you need to know:

What is a stroke?
A stroke is a sudden loss of brain function caused by a sudden brain blood vessel blockage (ischemic stroke) or rupture (hemorrhagic stroke). Ischemic stroke is the most common type of stroke. Stroke can happen at any age, so know the signs and know what it looks like.

Who is affected?
In Canada, about 741,800 adults aged 20+ live with the effects of a stroke (2012/13), 365,000 men and 376,800 women. One-quarter of Canadians living with stroke are under age 65 . Stroke prevalence rises sharply after age 55

What are the risks?
High blood pressure is the strongest risk factor for a stroke. Other risk factors include smoking, obesity, diabetes, high blood cholesterol, and atrial fibrillation (Afib)

How to prevent a stroke
>Keep blood pressure under control
>Maintain a healthy diet
>Be physically active
>Quit smoking

Every minute counts in a stroke emergency!
Survival and full recovery are possible if one acts… FAST

Learn the signs of a stroke
FACE - is it drooping?
ARMS - can you raise both?
SPEECH - is it slurred or jumbled?
TIME - to call 9-1-1 right away.
Act FAST because the quicker you act, the more of the person you save.

Thanks for the education. Very good to know. Had a friend who had "mini" strokes and finally succumbed to a bigger one.

Thanks for posting this. My best friend had a severe stroke 10 years ago when he was in his mid fifties. He was left paralyzed on one side and blind in one eye. Went through his entire savings. Now lives on his own but needs help dressing, showering and with meals. Due to the crappy, cold weather he hasn't been outside in over a month. The really sad thing is, he had a lot of warning signs that he ignored.

Thanks for the tip.
Occasionally I have something that droops... but it's not my face...
Then... I think about naked women and blow jobs and BAM..... the droop is gone... 😶
Go figure.... 🤔

- Working in the medical field full of patients from every walk of life, it’s important to be aware of any signs leading to a possible stroke; life is too short and we’re never promised tomorrow.

Thanks for reminder.

    Hey Darlin,
This is something that everyone should know. I’m the son of an retired FDNY firefighter so I was taught all of that stuff young, but as I said Everyone should know these things just to be prepared.

Often it takes a 'shocking' situation such as Luke Perry's to remind us all of how precious life is. Hope the rest of your weekend is awesome.

I knew a guy in his 40's who told me he was having headaches for days and the Drs told him to take some aspirin and rest. He had a ruptured aneurysm and died.

How tragic! One thing I have learned is that we must be our own health care advocates and not hesitate to question and ask for additional opinions. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your story.
