The ongoing saga This is from a book I have read "Olde Charlie Farquharson's Testament" - Parry Sound version It was time to find anuther lone, saltery man whom Gawd could trust. He settled on Abie-ham who had jist come from the city of Er and settled in Haran. He got told to git unsettled and start movin agin. I'll take care of you and yorn and if anybuddy gives any of youse trouble, will I ever take care of them. Abie-ham was 75, but he packed up his wife and all his cattels and took the lot with him. Lot was his brother's son, and he came along too. They passed thru the land of Cane-in without stoppin too long on accounta the place was loaded with Canin-nites. Gawd sed this here's the land I have picked out fer yer deesendents. Abie-ham marked the spot with an alter. After that he kep going acrost yer Negebb dessert. Nobuddy in the sand bizness was doin too good, so Abie-ham percyveered as far's Ejippt. Before they went thru Ejippt customs, he sed to his wife Sairy, Yere a good lookin woe-man Sair, these Ejippters will take one look at you and probably knock me off. So if anybuddy askes yer status, say yer my sister. They sure notissed Sairy them Ejippshuns. They told ther boss Faro bout her. She was ast over. After Faro dated her, Abie-ham dun well out of it. Sheep, oxin, cammels, menservints, madeservints, not to menshun he and she asses. Gawd was fit to be tied. He brung plaigs on Faro's house and he let him know why. Faro called Abie-ham ina rush, what are ya doin to me? That was no sister, that was yer wife. Now you take her back and git outa here. Abie-ham took Sairy and Lot and a lot more back acrost the dessert. He kept all of Faro's presents. He went back to where he set up that alter. Lot came along so he cud be in the family's way, but he was gittin tired of tag-in-along. When his cowboys started to fite with Abie's cowboys, he thot is was time to seprate. Abie-ham sed, we're famly let's raise cattel insted of our hands agin each other. Pick yerself out a nice lot, Lot, and I'll make do with the rest. Lot dun jist that. Quite a spred he picked too. The hole of yer Jordan Valee. Lot moved his wife and cows to a nice, low green place called Sod'em. |
