I think any Air Supply song can be improved upon. So I give them credit for trying.

LEAVE MY CLASSICS ALONE!
There are some things, that just should not be messed with. A couple of weeks ago, god knows where I was, I happened to hear a "remake" of a seriously old classic "Walking After Midnight" by Patsy Cline (no, Im not quite THAT old, but was brought up listening to a variety of music... Patsy being one) that was done in a rock sorta thing.

IT WAS WRONG WRONG WRONG!

Air Supply only had one big hit in the UK (three guesses which one!).
I used to think they were originally a US band, but actually were an Australian/UK mix.

ask any 20 year old who these bands are and you will get a blank look on their faces

so many bad sounds come crashing into my ears right now. I was happily a little metal head then running around with iron maiden or ted nugent on my personal cassette player. its funny i had the retro video channel on this weekend and rolled my eyes at the thought of those "COOL" guys.

Music touches each of us a little differently. I personally find that so much of the way I view love and relationships is based on emotions that were discovered and nurtured by music. Open Arms, How Deep is Your Love and Still are songs that every time they play take me back to a milestone in my emotional and sexual development.

Your reference to "Making Love Outta Nothing At All" really hit home. I feel so trapped in the emotional doldrums of a cordial coexistence. The songs that once created such a beautiful collage of what love could be are now a haunting reminder of what's missing. In the words of Forigner, I want to know what love is, I miss it.

Good choice in music with the Journey, Chicago, and REO Speedwagon. But I have a lot of issues with those bands now. They're nostalgia bands, and maybe they should be, but I think they reach a stage to hang it up...

Journey, moved on from Steve Perry, but they keep trying to get a sound-alike. They had Augeri, his vocal chords couldn't handle the songs night after night, he's out, in comes Jeff Scott Soto for a short time (he's a really nice guy). And now...Pineda, and even he is starting to suffer from the songs and the constant touring. Time to park the tour bus...

Chicago, love them, love their sound SOOO much. But Jason, the bass player (and Cetera replacement) can't sing the songs now. And the horn section looks like idiots in concert acting silly.

REO Speedwagon, Cronin just doesn't sound the same.

Sometimes, I wish they would have left at the top of their games, so we could remember them that way.

Boy....I remember listening to Air Supply, Chicago, REO, Journey, and many more back in the day. I done a few postings of music in my Blog (Even have Air Supply playing )

You know many have done remakes and remixes of the classics done by the artist back in the 80's, but very few I have ever heard able to pull it off, as the original artist or groups had. I did like how GNR did the remake of Paul McCartney and Wings "Live and let Die", although still it was not as good as the original.

Since you enjoy the Classics....you may be interested in hearing a few I done in my Blog. Sweet Dreams---Take My Breath Away---Here I Go Again

At least with Air Supply you've got some shot of hearing it in its original form in an elevator. You should hear what they do to Led Zeppelin. It's absolutely criminal.

'Making Love out of Nothing at All' was my first heartbreak song. The first guy I ever told I loved is who I think of when this song is played. There has since only been one man I told I loved...my ex-husband. I mean that in a romantic love way, there have been friends I love, but it's not the same thing.

Sometimes I'll enjoy a remix better than the original song/lyrics.

Some songs get a new lease of life when they are brought up to date but I have certain favourite classics that can't...mustn't be tampered with. I reckon mine go back a tad farther than yours!!!

Funny how that goes I was just listening to Journey the other night with their new lead singer. He does a remarkable job when he sings their older stuff and did a great job with their new stuff. But some how what you have in your mind just doesnt match up. A bit like the failed experiment with Inxs good but will never be the same.

Don't compromise yourself! You are all you've got!
