Supreme Court saves DACA and dreamers

The Supreme Court on Thursday blocked the Trump administration's attempt to end Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, an Obama-era program that protects hundreds of thousands of immigrants brought to the US as children from deportation.
The 5-4 ruling was written by Chief Justice John Roberts and joined by Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Elena Kagan, Stephen Breyer and Sonia Sotomayor.
In penning the opinion, Roberts once again sided with the liberals on the bench in a momentous dispute that will infuriate judicial conservatives who are still bitter that he once provided the deciding vote to uphold Obamacare.

The ruling emphasizes that the administration failed to provide an adequate reason to justify ending the DACA program. "We do not decide whether DACA or its rescission are sound policies," Roberts wrote in the majority opinion. "'The wisdom' of those decisions 'is none of our concern.' We address only whether the agency complied with the procedural requirement that it provide a reasoned explanation for its action."

The Trump administration could move, again, to try to rescind the program, but this time the administration will have to provide a better explanation grounded in policy for its reason for termination.

"Today's decision allows Dreamers to breathe a temporary sigh of relief," said Professor Stephen Yale-Loehr of Cornell Law School. "The administration may try to terminate the DACA program with a better justification, but that will take months or years. In the meantime, Congress should enact permanent relief for Dreamers to end this drama once and for all."

Now we need Joe Biden to win and a Democrat controlled Congress to allow a path to citizenship for the Dreamers. We need their help and work for a solid economy.

Trump is having a hissy fit and losing before the Supreme court. So much winning he promised. Another lie, another hour or two passes.

When isn't it having a hissy fit?

Humans are the most dangerous animals on earth.

If only animals had the ability to know when to keep away from us humans they would be better off.

judges did what they are supposed to do - JUDGE !

the whole "confirmation" process before congress to ratify them
too often makes them PREjudiced party-political rubber-stampers,
beholden to platforms of the party that ratified them.
in fact,
it bends the constitutional principal
of separate but equal power division.

GOOD FOR THEM to make a decision ON THEIR OWN
without bowing to please predator thumbs erratic and psychotic whims.

justice IS possible in america, lets hope for more

"well only get through this if we work together. if we dont, none of us will"

The end is near for Trump as president. Got two defeats in the Supreme Court for Daca and Lbgt tights, the wall is going slow, the country is divided, the covid cases rise in 19 states, more than 2 million positive for covid, more than 120,000 dead, China relations at worst point, agreement with North Korea going nowhere, high unemployment, recession, Bolton’s book is out this coming week, current and ex senior staff of his are comtadictimg/crriticising him. It is about time he gets fired by the American people.

thank you, youre very kind.

but sometimes, like in this case,

the issues are so clear (or, to quote the constitution, "self-evident")

that the words practically write themselves . . .

"well only get through this if we work together. if we dont, none of us will"

The amazing thing is that some 40% still like Trump as a leader.

My guess is at least 200,000 Americans will have died from Covid 19 by Nov. 2020. A real leader would have kept the number of dead to less than 50,000. Trump seems to think fewer tests means fewer infected with Covid 19! He is an idiot.

Trump is scapegoating immigrants to try to win, but is just hurting the economy.

The fights with China and the EU are bad for all. Refusing to care about science and having no attention span or interest in real facts is deadly for the people here. Trump is a total disaster. A fair election would toss Trump out. Hope we get one soon.

There is not enough time to screw the DACA people before the November election. But if Trump gets re-elected he can harm the DACA people again. Another good reason to dump Trump!
