Should we try to talk to E.T.?

Should we try to talk to E.T.? It seems likely that advance aliens exist in this huge universe. Should we reach out to try to talk with them? Some fear our being destroyed by a much more advanced group bent on stealing our resources or killing us because we are a threat to them. Recent admissions of the U.S. Dept. of Defense seems to indicate about twenty unexplained encounters with advanced technology that is other worldly. Some UFO's are measured at speeds that are as fast as 12,000 miles an hour. The G forces generated would be 5500 Gs, enough to pulverize normal human biology or conventional drones. Yet the UFO do not create sonic booms like normal jets do on Earth. Meanwhile some want to send a laser beam or high power radio signal to say hi! While others fear what happened to the Azteks when Cortez destroyed their civilization in a few years. If an advanced culture wants to destroy us then we are likely to be enslaved and killed. The Earth is likely not so special that it has rare quantity of minerals or gold to covet. If the aliens can mine rocks there are lots of planets to mine without destroying us. My guess is our Earth and its biology are more fun to study and enjoy our crazy behavior. |

I think we would be more fun as pets to advanced aliens than as food or fodder.

Re a much more advanced group - would see us as vastly inferior and wait until we destroy ourselves. Or they would not come here at all considering how much we have corn holed the planet. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

If they just need resources, then they may have far better options than to come to an overpopulated planet. They probably won't need to come any closer than the outer planets. Maybe the UFOs are asteroid miners out for a joy ride. Please don't let me be misunderstood.

The chances of other civizations out there is just so great, we have only begin to understand how to look and listen for other life forms, and we have been sending radio signals out to them since the 1920s but as slow as radio waves go it wil be many years befor they can hear them and again that long for us to hear a reply..
