Today we celebrate carb fever and National Bagel day. " The recipe for making bagels was once a closely guarded secret. Jewish immigrants in New York City had brought this baked good to America in the early 1900s. What a treat they are. I follow that old saying and frankly experience that the best bagels are from the New York City and North New Jersey areas. I have a niece who loves "real bagels" (Her words . She has never been down this way, so when I visit Upstate New York I better have some packed . Plain, with cream cheese or sandwich ,,yummy. Are you a bagel lover? If you are what do you like to put on them? Do you have any bagel stories? Toast up your favorite flavor on National Bagel Day. On January 15th, don’t forget to pick your favorite schmear, too. Make it for breakfast, lunch, snack, or all of the above!

This kosher carbohydrate brings complex flavors to the deli and sandwich bar. In the United States, we love our crunch-on-the-outside-chewy-on-the-inside bread. So they’re a staple in our freezers and as a winter pick-me-up.

 Bagels are so good I especially like the Poppy Seed ones or the Everything Bagels. But I don't eat them often. Its a great day to be a Bagel for sure, and I hope you get to enjoy your favorites today..
