Haven't Heard Your Song in so Long.
I haven't heard your song
for so long
ashes mascara around wide eyes
the tears smear this art
break and scar your heart
every time you think
of times before the now
when hope went away
this darkness pervades
every thought invades
dreams at night crushed
into dark corners pushed
the world you know cheapened
the bread you eat unleavened
a process of rolling back
from this world they present
and all the things you resent
how they say how to live
is the way exist
and yet they do not give a damn
for the lost and wandering
fortune misplaced by birth
or considered of less worth
due colour of skin
or where their life did begin
dress in infinite mourning black
a scarecrow crow
a darkness invading
every time evading
the world they say you must believe in
the world cheapened by their living
the repeated slurs and insults
not caring what results
as the world begins turn in
the world an inferno burning
and haven't heard your song
in so many damned years long
your throat parched
from the yelling and the marching
and so weary we grow
trying lift this world brought low
by the people and their smallness
trying crush the happiness
turning neighbour against neighbour
and the world into flames descends
and I haven't heard your song in so long.

 a sad situation
is there no redemption
no happy ever after
a place of love and laughter
or have we burned all those chances
with the diminution of other govt branches
putting a single person for our future
who can curse us or nurture
and when the wrong one is in
the good crusades become a sin.
