So I read this article about a recent arbitration hearing in Canada about someone being fired for masturbating at work. Mr. AB decided to relieve himself in the washroom stall at work. And he got fired for it. A Nova Scotia company was justified in firing a unionized worker for masturbating in a washroom at his workplace, a labour arbitrator has ruled. According to the arbitrator, the frisky employee’s hormone-charged hijinks could be heard by his fellow employees who claimed it caused them “embarrassment and distress.” The employee’s union, Unifor, claimed the man suffered from sex addiction and couldn’t help himself. And while the man — whose name was not released — had been warned about similar antics two years previous, the union claimed he hadn’t been warned. Unifor said instead company officials spoke to him about “unusual noises” emanating from the toilet stall. The ruling was released last week and posted on a legal database. This is not something labour boards typically deal with. “Neither (the company) nor the union’s representative had been able to find any case dealing with masturbation in the workplace,” the ruling states. The crux was whether masturbating in a stall warranted termination. “On this point I accept that there is nothing illegal about masturbation,” the adjudicator wrote but added his fellow workers were violated. “He instead conducted an activity that he knew (and certainly ought to have known) would and did cause embarrassment and distress to his co-workers once they became aware that he was doing it in close proximity to them.” The employee testified when the urge to masturbate overwhelmed him he made sure there was no one in the stall next to him. He also denied moaning and groaning and added he kept his phone on mute if he was watching X-rated videos. “Obviously if that were true no one would have known that he was doing it,” the arbitrator said. “But people did know. They could only have known about it because they could hear it.” At first, two of the man’s co-workers went to the union. But when the union allegedly blew the matter off they confronted management. After being warned, complaints began again two years later with one worker saying the masturbation sessions were “more frequent and brazen.” At that point, the manic masturbator was fired. __________________ I will admit I myself have done this but in the privacy of my vehicle. It's definitely not my favourite place to do it, but sometimes the urge can become quite strong, and if you can do it in a short amount of time, without bothering anybody, it pretty harmless. But dude, keep quiet, and don't use the company wifi if you're looking up porn!

Nope, never had the urge to do anything like that in any of the places I worked at. Although I did hear a couple of stories. One was where someone entered one of the loos and found a guy playing with himself into the wash-hand basin, and seemingly this wasn't the first time he did that. Not sure if any complaint was ever made. Another was where a couple of co-workers were caught having a late-night session in the office over the boss' desk - I think he got fired for "misuse of company property" although I'm not clear on whether that referred to the desk or the member of staff!

While I have masturbated in many places, the work bathroom would NOT be arousing. There was a report in the news here that a San Antonio man on a flight from LA to SA wanted to join the "mile high club" and was caught masturbating on the plane and fined $500. Sounds innocent up front but deeper into the details it was reported that he made constant eye contact with another passenger across the aisle. Not cool when others are included in your "act" without consent.
