Even Though. A Poem

It's deflating knowing
You are not on
The same wavelength.
That you don't think
About me the same way.

I thought highly of you.
Your humility
Your generosity
Your gratitude
For your family and friends.
It speaks volumes
About who you are
As a person.

But even though
There was no awkwardness
Even though
We thoroughly enjoyed
Each other's company.
You have not indicated
Wanting an encore
Even though we still text.

So I am in this
Holding pattern
Wondering how long
I should wait to see
If you will take the hint.
Take me up
On my unspoken offer
Of a performance
I so want to repeat
