Nocturnal Greetings And Endings A Poem

I wished him goodnight.
Sleep well.
Sweet dreams.
To which
He responded
In kind.

A nightly ritual
I find endearing
As it becomes familiar.
Why ever not?
It means
I am a part
Of his evening
A nocturnal greeting
And closing.
It's neat.
And complete.

I could end with goodnight
After I say the other phrases.
It really matters not
Their order
Except each has
A purpose.

Sleep is needed.
Dreams are hopes
And wishes.
The vivid the better.
To become memorable.
To be easier to recall.

And good is the night
When it all works
In harmony.
Yes harmony of thought.
Mind, body and spirit.
Resting and rejuvenating.

So therein lies
my reasoning
For my trio
Of nightly phrases.
Would you like
Those nocturnal
Greetings
And endings?
Gently said
Or broadcast?
Which works best
For the effect
Of their intent?
