Just Another Why Bother. A Poem

Just another
Losing proposition
Just another fling
Or one night stand.
Can I really afford
The damage it does
To my self esteem
And heart?
That is the question
I have to ask myself.

Why bother going along
If I know the result in advance?
Why bother proving
Myself wrong?
When the chances are
Slim to none?
I may not have a crystal ball
But I sure have enough
Past experiences
To know the signs
And particulars.
I know enough that
The man would have
To be open minded
In a certain regard.
I will try to get that information
Before I go forward.
