Pics from my participation in the Seattle Women's March

This was an extremely peaceful gathering of human beings, supporting each other and our efforts to stop the changes being made by the current administration that negatively impacts so many of us...women, children, LGBT's, vets...the list includes just about everyone on the planet except the rich and powerful. We are protesting quietly but doggedly because if we don't, our rights will be trampled and we will be in the dark ages all over again. I was in awe of the 130,000 people that turned out for the Seattle March...we filled the entire 4 mile route from beginning to end with people. There was no violence at all. No angry words. It was all about doing good things, supporting any actions that will stop the changes from happening that will hurt so many of us. For once, instead of sitting on my ass and complaining, worrying, not doing anything...I chose to fight my anxiety disorder and joined my son and daughter in law and 130,000 other people to show I care and to show I will not look the other way.

PS I forgot to add this: as we were waiting at Judkins Park with the other 130,000 people, we all saw two eagles, soaring high above us.....they soared in big circles, in a general northerly direction, which was exactly the direction of the March route. We were all amazed.

Note: I have kept this blog peaceful and respectful, even though my views on the current Administration do not support Trump. The only two negative responses to this blog were from Trump supporters....I am fine with contrary opinions and welcome peaceful and respectful disagreement. But these two negative responses were filled with nasty, hateful, bashing words and I promptly deleted them. There is no place for such hatred in Blogland. If you disagree with me, or with the Women's March in general, feel free to state how you feel here but only if you are just as peaceful and respectful toward me as I am towards you. I don't think that's too much to ask or to expect.

That's awesome! I wish I could have been a part of a larger one. I went to the one here in Hawaii, and by my estimates there were a couple thousand.

Thoughts from the Garden...

And tomorrow there'll be video of violence.

Not from the March in Seattle, rh. On the walk back to our car, there was a large police presence, standing by. My daughter in law used to be a police dispatcher so she knew a lot of the officers...we stopped and chatted with quite a few of them and they all said...absolutely no violence at all, it was the most peaceful march of 130,000 people they'd ever witnessed.
The violence I saw was from WA DC, the day of the Inauguration. NOT from anyone during the Women's Marches the next day.

Wonderful post. I could not attend, but I sent my spirit with several people that did march. Peace to you.

It's so nice to see gatherings of large groups of people expressing there desires, and doing it without, and vandalism or intimidation of those who may have a different view. I went by light rail with three folks that I work with, all young ladies in their mid to late 30's as we got closer to the assembly point 2 were already showing signs of anxiety not counting myself, A lot of the people near us were so verbally aggressive and really made some nasty remarks, they were so much more interested in anarchy then getting the message across, I just wish the individuals I went with could of participated instead of just wanting to go back home, I was able to say lets walk farther back and let those with the loudest message vent and we'll hang witht the mom's and grandmoms, we finished the march and they were so proud of themselves as I was of them

That's way too bad that you were around some aggressive people. The Women's Marches were all marked to be quiet and peaceful but I know that a lot of people disagreed with that concept. I hope that your friends will give peaceful marches another chance. Thank you for participating!

I have only had one person say that they disagreed with the march to me and when I talked to them further, they managed to say their piece without rancor. We had a respectful discussion and went our separate ways.

the funniest remark one of my friends in San Diego said to a police officer who was nearby, the police officer leaned over and said "Good job, ladies! No riot, no violence, no looting. And no mess." and my friend responded with "Well, who do you think would have to clean it up, if that happened?" and smiled.

She got the laugh she was looking for.
It was on a day where I was at a women's water polo tournament that lasted from 8:30 AM to 4 PM. I was there in spirit and many of our young ladies in the tournament said that they wished they had been able to go. Instead, they played some kickass water polo instead!

We raise our daughters and sons to want what we want.
Hopefully, that means the next generation will take is as a given that women and families have the right to peacefully protest.

Good for you! I agree with you all the way. But from watching everything that is happening in the first month of the new president, it looks like "We the people" need to get back out on the streets and march again.
