When my key card wouldn't open the door at the gym yesterday, I messaged the owner to see what was up.

Apparently, there's a lot up.

At the time, I'm certain she was under the belief that I had done something to the card to deactivate it and prevent myself from being able to enter or that it was merely operator error.

So, she told me she would review the video.

Really??

Like.... I'm going to lie about the key card not working? Because.... why would I lie about something stupid like that?

I have to say, I felt a little vindicated today when she messaged me back stating she had been on the phone with corporate all day because they are having issues with the door that she was unaware of. Apparently the door is randomly picking and choosing who it wants to let in.

At this point in time, my card is not working with the door.... Which means, I can only work out when the staff is there. The staff is only there during my own work hours.... So, no workouts for me until the door is fixed.

Just when I had it back! They take it all away....

    I reckon gyms over here will suffer right through until winter because people have discovered other ways to exercise outdoors during lockdown. It's a bit of a worry for the smaller operators.

    How did you get on with the wee fella, middle one?
I signed the paper and so did his dad. Next step is for him to take the health / knowledge tests. I cried so many times in the recruiters office, so embarrassing. It'll be ok though.

My key card is fixed, as of today! She was very, very apologetic and I could see she genuinely didn't know how to fix the situation without getting the door fixed by their corporate. She was telling me today that there were a lot of members who were affected in a lot of different ways. Some had deactivated accounts that were still letting them in. (Hadn't signed the waver) Some were just not able to get in. (Me) She even had an employee who couldn't get in.

 I understand they may not be able to credit you for the time you've been unable to use your membership. But if they're not willing to work with you, perhaps you should remind them that you're trying to help them keep their business from going under. It really wouldn't hurt for them to try to work with their members....who are paying their salaries.

 They won't credit.... I'm certain. I don't think they could probably afford to, anyway, considering they were closed for 3 months. The couple who own it are really nice people, but I've been told by other members that they are really tight with money.

That was my thought, so I asked her that. Her response was that she was still working with corporate to get the situation resolved. I'm wondering how many other members were affected by this as there were times that I was able to access the facilities without it even registering my card. They have to keep a log for liability and insurance.

It's been above average temps here so I've been taking my daughter to the lake after work every day.... What an experience that has been! Still a feel good feeling, but not quite the same.

The owners are a really nice couple, but I'm sure they won't reimburse me. I live in the northern half of Michigan, we opened earlier then the lower half as our infection rates up here are much, much lower. Some counties are still in single digits.
