Coronavirus

The US Coronavirus breaks 200,000 cases 215,003

The US Coronavirus breaks 5000 deaths 5,102

The US surpasses France in number of deaths

The US now number 3 in total deaths behind Spain and Italy.

2nd chart US States number of cases

3rd chart US States number of deaths

According to sources

Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi issued stay-home orders. The Republican governors of those states — especially Ron DeSantis of Florida — had drawn criticism for not taking decisive action as the number of cases in the southern states rose.

Officials announced “enhanced counter-narcotics operations” in the Eastern Pacific and the Caribbean during the Coronavirus Task Force briefing. The US has intelligence that drug trafficking efforts may pick up as countries turn inward to focus on the pandemic, according to Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Trump said that the federal government is considering districting domestic travel between coronavirus hotspots, but isn’t anticipating a nationwide shelter-in-place mandate. During another lengthy coronavirus briefing, the president often meandered, boasting about the southern border wall and hearkening back to “caravans... marching through Mexico.

New York reported more than 83,000 cases of coronavirus and 1,941 deaths. Governor Andrew Cuomo also announced the closure of all New York City parks after residents failed to respect social distancing guidelines.

The vice president compared the coronavirus situation in the US to Italy, which has seen the highest number of deaths linked to the virus. Italy has already reported more than 13,000 coronavirus fatalities, and that number continues to climb.

The Dow dropped nearly 1,000 points as US markets continue to suffer amid the pandemic. Unemployment claims are also expected to jump in tomorrow's report after many major employers announced layoffs this week.

    Not that the total death count isn't important, but here are some stats you won't hear from the politicians:

    USA - Cases confirmed = .0001 % of population (Note that is 4 decimal places out)
    Deaths = .00006 % of population (Note this is 5 decimal places out

    Italy - Cases confirmed = .001 % of population
    Deaths = .0002 % of population

    Spain - Cases confirmed = .002 % of population
    Deaths = .0002 % of population

    If you look at the % per population, the US is in far better shape than any other country. Something to help ease the minds of those here, but media and politicians are not interested in calming nerves. Panic is the key to getting more control over everyone.
Another interesting statistic. The number of cases per million worldwide is 22.0 and deaths 6.2

The US cases per million is 651 and deaths 15

    Yes, but you have to take something else into account: Italy and Spain hopefully have or are about to reach the peak as far as deaths are concerned as it seems that their strict measures have started working.
    The situation in the IUSA just started. Unfortunately you were late to take strict measures and every state is doing different things. Therefore you have almost the whole April to peak. Did you see what is the US Government’s projections? 100,000 to 240,000 deaths. Anything below 240,000 will be considered a good number given how shitty the situation can become. 100,000deaths/327,000,000 US population = 0.0003 that is 3 dead per 10,000 people. If 240,000/327,000,000=0.0007 that is 7 dead per 10,000 people. 4 decimals on both cases. And according to the Administration, you should be happy with these numbers! I mean, you are the most powerful country in the world and you may end up with a far worse disaster in casualties than countries that are the 7th (Italy) and the 12th powers in the world! How does this look? A complete and utter failure. US was aware about the situation since the begining of January. The war president was playing golf on March 8 if I am not mistaken. How does this look, less than a month later? This was a problem that was not even a problem. It was supposed to go off on its own...
Thanks for sharing. You brought up a lot of good points.

Just a correction. The 193,000 people who have recovered are from all over the world, not just from USA.
