I was cold inside
there wasn't 
any life within me 
the look in my eyes 
was just the glare 
from the sun shining 
it painted
a false image 
of myself 
it was a reflection 
of the truth 
that came
from somewhere else 
I was cold inside 
like the first 
winter snow fallen 
before the freezing rain
after the snowplows 
push me aside 
against the curb
dirt frozen hard
I was cold inside
like the chill
you get
that comes
from nowhere
it's when
I feel real
in the moment
that moment
is hopeless
I feel
I am
about to die
