Turn On That Switch... And Be Your Best... Or... Fall On Your Face... đŻ I have a switch . Everyone does ! I flip it, when I step out of the house. I become my best me. It activates a positive (go for it) energy, my personality is poised and the spring is loaded. When the switch is ON, I bring my 'A Game' to the table. I really needed it, this weekend.   I was helping out in the bar tent, serving vodka shots and beer. You can tell, people have had too much, when they say hello to you, for the third time and ask the same questions. Yep... ya got that vibe right. Things were a slippery, muddy, wild mess and that's... when I ran into her. Actually, she ran into me. She was dressed, completely inappropriately... in a tight, hip hugging, cream colored dress, that flowed out like a flower, from just below her knees. Her stiletto heels, dug into the turf, with relentless impatience, as she plodded towards my tent. Then as she saw me, she shouted ; "Paul... how are you...?" and raised her arms for a greeting. At that moment, she stumbled and kinda lunged forward. I wasn't quick enough to catch her. She face planted into the mud. It took all my self control, not to laugh. I stifled my chuckles and spoke; "Ugh... Hang on. I'll help." She pushed her hands into the muck and crouched to her knees, as a few of us, picked her up by the elbows and raised her from the quagmire. She was pasted, from head to toe, dripping, with fresh mud. The dress was ruined. Some drunk guy, gave her a couple of napkins : she needed a fire hose. I offered her a chair in the bar tent and someone else offered her a drink. Surprisingly... she refused the chair... but accepted the drink. Soon after, her husband came by... and dragged her away. He came back five minutes later and got down on his knees, into the mud, to look for a set of keys, she'd lost. We found them... The thing about, flipping your switch and bringing your 'A Game', into the real world is - ya gotta be ready and sober, or you might fall, flat on your face. Hey... stuff happens at festivals, right? The sun came out on Sunday and dried things up. The bar tent was... flying ! Face plant lady showed up, sporting jeans, runners and a big smile. There was a Pub Night at that festival, on Friday evening. My daughters were with me. My brother's band played and I took a set behind the drum kit. Felt real good, to kick the shit, out of my kit! I'd say "poor lady" but even in dry weather ⊠you just don't wear stilettoes to the park! I always face a dilemma with festivals - Love 'em but hate crowds. Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

I wish it were as easy as flipping a switch. I'm an introvert and am rarely "on". I do know that flow feeling you get when working a big event though...I volunteer at a music venue and have worked tickets and concessions at a few very crowded events. You just get to clicking like a well oiled machine.

Yes, I totally understand about having a âswitchâ. I work for an event management company, supporting major events, the largest thus far, had 25,000 attendees. Being friendly, engaging and helpful with everyone, despite standing, for hours, often on concrete surfaces is necessary and expected. No one cares if my legs hurt or I am tired. I apply the same mindset when out socializing too.

I agree when I go out that switch is always turned on, because I was raised to always treat others the way you wish to be treated. And you should always be helpful when ever you can be. You know your so sweet to have helped her, as I know your such a sweet man. Thanks for sharing another great story with us, and giving us a peek into your world.. Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

I wish it were as easy as flipping a switch. I'm an introvert and am rarely "on". I do know that flow feeling you get when working a big event though...I volunteer at a music venue and have worked tickets and concessions at a few very crowded events. You just get to clicking like a well oiled machine. How do you fake it? đ€ lol đ... I'll admit... I hate crowds. Sounds like you had a fun weekend! I am an introvert, and would likely need to be dragged to a festival like that...or, at least bribed, lol. But, once I got there, I'd likely have a great time. You're right though... once I'd drag you there... you wouldn't want to leave... lol đ No need to hang around the beer tent. I thought I was the only one who had akward moments of public doofiness. Tons of people having a great time and not giving a shit. I had to manage the bar.. lol đ Otherwise... I'd be right out there with them. I couldn't really hear the bands though. Had to keep poking my head out. I like it when I don't have to keep the switch on. I have a switch and I have file folders as well in my head. Some things get filed away unless you flip my switch. Gotta have an A game- if you ainât first- youâre last!
