Things a Woman in a White Chiffon Gown Shouldn.t Do... 😮❗

Certain things in life just aren't done.

Eating a cherry popsicle in the blazing July sun while wearing a white chiffon gown would be one.

Smoking a cigarette in a car with a child inside — unless you crack the window open would be another.

And passing out phony twenty dollar bills at the gas station could be a third.

They're all BAD ideas. Yesterday, I accidentally stumbled upon another one.

I was rummaging through my overcrowded closet, searching for 'eclectic' yet rarely worn items to pass onto the less privileged. I was also multi-tasking by cooking in the kitchen. That was a huge fucking mistake.

I never rev up my stove without supervising the proceedings yet — for some messed up reason — I'd quickly drifted into my bedroom for what I thought would be a minute. When I smelled smoke, I ran to my kitchen. What the FUCK? (*or replace with your favorite expression of shock.*)

The flames from the grease in the frying pan had reached the draft hood over my stove. I didn't panic until I couldn't find the lid to that fucking frying pan. It's then that I started to weigh other options. (*By the way, there aren't too many when you're dealing with a grease fire.*) Pouring that blaze down the sink seemed like my only alternative. (*I know, but I wasn't thinking clearly.*)

Before I could make it to the sink, the gloves with which I'd picked up the pan proved useless in preventing my hands from burning. Those towering flames had now singed my ceiling with black swirls. I placed the pan on the floor, reached into the cupboard for the first oversized lid I found and succeeded in starving that inferno. Unfortunately, there were consequences.

In all my years of cooking, I've NEVER had a fire. As proof of my stupidity, I now had a blackened ceiling and a charred floor, not to mention — my scorched ego. After all my experience and decades of prudence, I had finally learned my lesson the hard way.

Never clean your closet while frying.

I was selective and generous with what I gave away. Although let's face it, would a homeless person truly appreciate their first opportunity to wear a designer pair of 'Yves St. Laurent' pants? I don't think they'd be impressed, even if they noticed the label — but I'd hope so.

*Note to anyone paying attention; grease fires are a bitch!

Flour puts out grease fires. Keep a bag nearby to smother the flames. When I was packing my RV to move to Florida I gave away suits, leather jackets with matching skirts and slacks, leather coats, etc. to a charity that provides clothing for women in shelters needing clothes for job interviews, etc. I also gave away about 50 pairs of high heels and purses. Take care of your burns!

Well dear friend you could go get a fire extinguisher and put it in your house and grab it when that happens again don't feel bad when my daughter was little she locked herself in the bathroom and I had to call the fire department to unlock it but I was ironing and the iron fell on the floor and our in house so luckily they weren't no damage except they had to replace part of the floor from the iron. But the suit makes the man

The Light is shinning and she is lonely and waiting in the darkness.

I think any type of house fire is one of the scariest experiences to go through. One of the Top causes is exactly what you described....leaving cooking unattended. Thank goodness you noticed and reacted when you did so that the results weren't more devastating. According to a study done by the American Psychological Association, the way a man dresses significantly affects how a woman rates his attractiveness.

My second, now Ex, wife had a grease fire once. Left the kitchen for a "moment". Heard the woomp of ignition and ran in. Put the lid on the pot but the flames started out the sides. Grabbed potholders and towels, walked it flaming through the living room and tossed it out on the brick patio.
Our fireman neighbor saw her do it and told her he thought that was a neat trick but not smart. That was the pots first and last use.
Fortunately we were planning on remodeling the kitchen. Just had to do it a tad sooner than expected.
Hope you did not get burned too bad.

If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin."

I always behave. Preferably not well.

And that is why I don't fry.

I'm glad it wasn't worse for you.

My burns were minor : more burns to my
ego and floor!
Thanks for the tip. I
won't leave my stove unattended when I'm using grease! 👍
I know people would appreciate what you gave away. ❗❗😎

I know right?
I didn't think that I even noticed it ; it was more of a 'sixth sense' thing where I felt something, if you know what I mean.
Yeah... Fires are spooky and something that I never want to be a part of.

Women notice a man's wardrobe? 🤔 Hmmm... Good thing my profile has no ratty underwear pics. I made sure to take those OFF before I pressed the shutter— on some pics. 😎❗ ❗ Honesty is a good policy, no? 🤔 ❗

The slight burn was more of a scare and a reminder of how bad it might have been. I

It was my first ever grease fire 🔥 and I wasn't ready ; lesson learned. But it did scare crap outta me.

Sounds like your adventure was a close one!
Stay safe! 😎❗

Paul,

Wow..Thank Goodness you are OK..Those kind of fires ,well any fire is, quite scary. Hope the burns heal soon. Same kind of thing happened to my Mom . She was frying a hamburger in the kitchen, heard some thing on tv in living room and stepped out of kitchen to check it .. I came walking by moments later and asked Mom, "Why is Champion ( my ginger Kitty ) staring at the Kitchen ?" Mom jumped up, saw the pan on fire and grabbed a pan lid to cover it..It could have been a lot worse.. I did laugh though as my Boy Kitty just sat there watching the flames..

Stay Safe Hugs,

Ana6

In the real world, people are rewarded for paying attention, aren't they? 🤔 lol 😂
Yep, I'll be more vigilant next time.
It's annoying to have 'dropped the ball' so late in my cooking career. *ugh * ❗❗😎
Ever been to a bonfire? 😮

I've told my oldest G-girl to never leave the kitchen with water on to boil, but oil frying is a whole new level of dangerous.
