The Hunt's Point area of New York City is the absolute worst area to be in. You will get robbed if you go there. Or worse. Honorable Mentions: Detroit, MI Compton, CA Chicago, IL - The south and east sides are the worst. St. Louis, MO As truck drivers, my husband and I get to see the worst of the worst shitholes across the country.

If you are planning to come to San Francisco Bay Area in California, United States, I absolutely want to tell everybody to avoid Oakland, as it is known for plenty of violent robberies, drug trafficking, and, most importantly, gang violence. No one in Oakland is safe there. (I can bypass Oakland while riding BART without a scratch, but not exiting any one of the stations within Oakland, unless I have important appointment which requires me to be in Oakland.) Instead, try going to Fremont or Sunnyvale in the same state. These two places are pretty safe, plus there are plenty of police patrolling there. If you move to Fremont or Sunnyvale for a living, then safety is not a big issue.
