Just a little thought.

Just a little thought.

It's the smell of the air on a early morning at the beach. The look on the face of your kid, that lets you know they feel happy and safe. The line of a woman's neck as it falls into her shoulders.

All little things. Little things, that often go unnoticed and unappreciated. Little tidbits that get lost in the quagmire of life, with all of the giant problems and hassles that we're forced to deal with.

There's a philosophy. Don't sweat the small stuff. It's a very well thought ideal, with lots of merit. It can help significantly in finding ways to deal with stress. I believe in it. In thinking about this the other day, though, it took my mind in a different direction. One that I woke up thinking about this morning.

Don't miss the small stuff. The little things, if you will.

I have failed in relationships more than once I think, by missing or flat out ignoring, the little things. Not taking that extra minute to listen to a problem. It was just a little problem. Probably would have only take a little time. It was a little thing. Until it wasn't. Missing subtle hints, or in my case, ignoring the little hints. Thinking it's not that big of a deal. Little things.

I like to think that slowly, I become a little wiser as I age. I've learned from past mistakes and I do try to notice the little things. In my own life, with family/friends, with relationships and sex. Pausing the movie for a sec, cause someone needed to ask another question. My youngest never seems to run out of questions.
A little thing that takes zero effort, but shows I care about her.

Building anticipation with a lover, by whispering thoughts of our next encounter as I leave for the day. Little things that mean more than showing up with a dozen roses. Just little things that can say more than a thousand words.

At times, I think all the big things in life that bring me happiness, all started as little things. I try not to let life bog me down so much, that I fail to notice the little things that pick me up. The little things that are so easy to miss, if I don't take the time to notice them.

Just some thoughts rumbling around in my head over the last few days. They were little thoughts.

Hope everyone has a great day...and unless you're team wins today. Unless they're playing the Boys ...haha

Young man, you are getting wiser, those "little things" are what all the big stuff is made of.. If it were not for pennies we would not have dollars. quite watching the pennies and you will lose the dollars Yes they are important, sometimes more so than a apparent big issue... have a good day , glad to see you in good spirits...

Yep... It's the little things in life that are good. Great way to think... 👍😊
And as long men keep finding women who say size doesn't matter - it's all good!

Nice thinking. 🙂. I once wrote a poem that I think was titled gifts from my lover. The premise of it was the most important thing was spending time together. I guess I could add some of those little things you mentioned. In regards to you and your awareness of other people...I think you are pretty enlightened compared to other folks. Have a great day!

I agree...I've always like the saying watch the pennies.

Thank you sir.

Hahaha, I hadn't thought about the 'size" issue. But there ya go...another fine point.

I'm sure it was great prose, you have a talent.

Thanks. I hope, with the help of friends, I can learn more everyday.

I think we all find ourselves so engrossed in the bigger picture, we forget to enjoy the little stuff. I know I do it with work, way too much.

thanks.

Thanks Jack...

The question I found myself asking this morning was, would I notice the little stuff in those mistakes now. Maybe...

I think there is a lot of truth in that statement. If I think about things, times and places where I'm happy, it's probably just the little things that make them special.

I can't speak for everyone, but for me this surely rings true. I was so busy trying to "make" it in life, I think at times I forgot to live it. In my 30's I wouldn't have known the little stuff, if it bit me in the face.

I think that's a really good point ...that I missed in my post. We all have things in life that we think of as "little stuff" ,, that could be a major point in someone else's.

And I think you're spot on with the individual designation of what's important.

Good call.

Ah, the little things. You are so right.

I know I missed those little things when my kids were young because I was too busy trying to be the perfect mom. I was not even close on that...yet, if I'd paid more attention to the little stuff, perhaps I would have been closer to the best mom for my kids.

By the time the boys were in high school, my priorities were better...I didn't miss a sporting event, or a scout event, or a school event.

I think "being there" and noticing the "little things" are two sides to the same thing. Looking outside our selves and paying attention to the ones that are most important to us.

When I'm with my kids and grandkids, I tend to notice and treasure the little things a bit more. Just sitting and reading books or watching a soccer game or coloring together...the little ones just want to be the focus of my attention, and I'm more than happy to do it.

They say the devil's in the details. Sometimes it's those little details...the small things...that can trip us up. We miss them, only to find out later just how important they were.

Don't sweat the small stuff. Yeah, it's pretty well thought out . . . in theory. Then there's that "real life" thing. When it comes to important stuff: relationships, rocket science to name a few, the small stuff can get you into a big pile o shit.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I think I 'resemble' that remark.

Yeah, I missed a lot when my kids were younger. Spent too much time on the corp ladder.

I agree with you, being there for your grandkids is a "little thing", but it's the biggest thing in the eyes of the grandkid. Bet they love you for it.

That is so true. It's funny how in hindsight, a lot of my misses seem so obvious now.

See that was sorta my thought..Couldn't one also assume the small stuff was important in many things. I hope if I ever need a heart surgeon , he never read that book and pays attention to the small stuff too.

Something I've learned... (since watching my momma pass), if we are depressed... we are living in the past, anxious.. living in the future... Im learning (like you seem to be) living in the now and being content. Serine. I am today... I AM living for "today" from now on. Whats your secret to happiness?

Now on my Blog: 👄 New Pictures 👓

Not sure if I"ve found a complete secret. But I find being honest with myself, paying attention to the little things, not letting the materialistic stuff dictate my life and surrounding myself with people I care about seems to be a good start.

I agree. Life can get busy and complicated. But if you don't find the little things that bring you happiness, then why are we living.
