Gas stations

So on a trip how do you decide on a gas station? Is it the location, bathrooms, food, number of pumps , brand or perhaps the other chains in the same building? Other reasons?

For me it’s
1. Number of pumps
2. Location ( easy on and off)
3. Restroom functionality
4. Other associated chains ( one that I stop at has a Starbucks)

How about you?

rest rooms are wheelchair accessible and disable friendly ..if they look clean they most generally are.. If I am going a long distance I find if its only me and I cant get out to pump gas its easier for me to find a full service station there are few around any more..

Accessibility. I generally travel at night and am no longer willing to skip brightly lit, safe, accessible gas stations for any reason

The closest to me when I need gas, 8 miles to the gallon does not let you be picky.

Since my Joey and I are truckers, we obviously have to make our fuel stops at a truck stop. Yes, I know that was the obvious answer.

We do have our preferences when it comes to which chains we will stop at though. We tend to shy away from the seedy joints, chain or not. If that particular location has any sort of bad reputation, we stay away. Another factor for us, is the food selections at that stop. If they don't have something we like, we move on down the road to the next stop. The most important factor to us is trying to maximize the benefits we receive by giving a particular brand our business.

Right now, our truck stop chain of choice is the Flying J and Pilot chains. We get a good discount on both the diesel and DEF at the pump, thanks to a program they have with the company we drive for. Additionally, we get 10 rewards points per gallon of fuel we purchase when we use our rewards card. That may not sound like much, but it adds up fast when you are putting in 120 gallons of fuel about every other day on average. We can use those points towards food, drinks, or supplies for our truck. That's extra money in our pockets! Not to mention, we also earn free showers and free daily wifi access. The perks definitely add up!

Might as well when you are off the road. Get as much done as you can . A minute equals about a mile towards you destination.
