Older Americans: Would you be willing to die to save our economy?

Found this on internet. Not my words - mine are last 3 sentences.

As Donald Trump pushed to re-open the US economy in weeks, rather than months, the lieutenant governor of Texas, Dan Patrick, age 69, went on Fox News to argue that he would rather die than see public health measures damage the US economy, and that he believed “lots of grandparents” across the country would agree with him.

My message: let’s get back to work, let’s get back to living, let’s be smart about it, and those of us who are 70-plus, we’ll take care of ourselves,”

“Don’t sacrifice the country,” Patrick said. “Don’t do that.”

Patrick said he feared that public health restrictions to prevent coronavirus could end American life as he knows it, and that he is willing to risk death to protect the economy for his grandchildren.

“That doesn’t make me noble or brave or anything like that,” he added. “I just think there are lots of grandparents out there in this country like me.”"

Since so many members are 60 and over, it begs the question:
WOULD YOU RATHER DIE TO SAVE THE ECONOMY?

I for one, would not.

“That doesn’t make me noble or brave or anything like that,” Great then he can go - adios. He can try the chemical treatment trump suggested.

Perhaps not saying it was a hoax for weeks would have been better, or keeping the NSC Pandemic group, etc etc

There are much better ways to limit the damage, but the morons in charge can't figure it out. Denmark has.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

He did not say back to work by Easter, he said he would like to see it by Easter. Media reporting, gotta love it.

We get one shot at being alive on this planet. Once it is over, we return to the same eternity of emptiness from which we emerged. The economy can be fixed in a variety of ways. My death will not contribute to its well being in any fashion. As long as we are alive we can work to change things. Death undoes all those solutions.

I would die....if you know anything about economics the country has to re open......soon...... if it doesn’t the results would be catastrophic to our economy and our way of life. I’m thinking of my kids and grand kids....save the country for them.

Don’t be selfish.....save the country for your children and grandkids

Bettibenobo replies on 25/3/2020 22h03:
I'm sorry but I'm not willing to die just to keep the rich from getting poor. This president is the richest of all of them ever. A billionaire. Let him use HIS money to keep our economy afloat.

I don't think anyone's life should be sacrificed for the economy.

Ugh, we can work on rebuilding the economy later. I don't want my 77-year-old mother thinking she needs to sacrifice herself for the good of the country.
