Pre-season is over
The Boy finished up his pre-season wrestling today and what a wild pre-season it was .. he traveled all up and down the California coast wrestling in close to 40 matches in just under 2 months. He wrestled in the 189, 215, and the 285 pound weight divisions even though he tipped the scales at 178 pounds. He simply wanted the mat time, as much as he could get. Most of his losses came at the higher weight classes where he was giving up sometimes as much as 50 pounds to his opponent. He does finish up firmly seated at the fourth slot in the Grand Championship standings which puts him in a perfect position to hopefully make a serious run at it when the club season resumes.

The Boy made some valuable collegiate contacts that will hopefully assist him in his goals for next year. He also learn a lot, made some life long friends in his travels and best of all .. we had the chance to bond more .. Ok, so that last part was a farce .. we argued over directions, places to eat, stay, tournaments, strategy, and even toothpaste! But hey, I would not change one minute of it to be quite honest.

For all of you who have followed him through his pre-season .. thank you. I hope you continue to keep an eye out for his upcoming high school season which should start in about 3 weeks. He is still in football play-offs. As soon as they are over - he ditches the cleats and puts on his wrestling shoes .. then right after the conclusion of high school wrestling .. he returns to club wrestling one week later. He is an inside favorite to be selected to the California National team for either Greco Roman or Free Style wrestling.
