Voices buzzed inside of my head
Telling that the feelings were dead
Quieting them gently with a smile and a tear
I delved deep within having no fear

Thoughts of my demons I had laid rest
In my heart I knew that I had passed the test
The taste might be bitter but love was so sweet
I took a deep breath and refused to retreat

I vowed to stay focused and not to lose sight
It was with myself I knew I would fight
I could never go back to where I had been
To take from would be absolute sin

I had drunk from the cup I had tasted my need
Only I understood only I could take heed
I knew that my soul was now safe from harm
Others words did not matter nor did their charm

I stood firmly planted though the ground was so cold
I knew as time passed the truth would unfold
Laughter comes easy to weep is in vain
Pleasure brings smiles and it follows the pain
