I attended a banquet earlier this evening; the after dinner entertainers were a quintet of talented ladies who sang a capella. Their voices were beautiful and so were the songs they sang. One ballad I had never heard before but particularly liked was titled "There's another train, there always is". The theme of this song was that if something (or someone) is lost from your life, something else will eventually become available to replace the loss.
I liked this song because that is the philosophy I have always lived by. If I lose something or someone I don't dwell on it. Instead I try to stay alert and be ready to take advantage of the next opportunity to present itself. If we keep looking back, feeling sorry for ourselves, we may miss the moment when a new opportunity comes along.
So, the next time you lose something you think can't be replaced remember: There's another train, there always is.

The day after the storm.

I always enjoy going to a nearby state park for a walk along some of the trails the day after a snow storm if it is bright and sunny. Today is such a day; it is as if the storm cleansed the air of impurities and everything seems crystal clear with a bright blue sky. This latest snow was followed by freezing rain so there was a crust of ice on top of the snow. I thought that it would be difficult to walk on it and wasn't sure if I would go to the park or not. A short walk at home revealed that if I put my weight on my heel as it came down it would break through the crust and I wouldn't slip. So off to the park I went.
I chose the Lakeside Trail because it is fairly level, no need to deal with hills in these conditions. The lake was frozen over and I ventured out onto an isolated beach. As I was taking pictures I seemed to have a different view of the shoreline than I usually do at this location. That's when I realized I was standing on the lake, not the beach! I had no idea how thick the ice was so I quickly made my way back on shore.
I followed the trail through the woods knowing it would lead me to the road that would take me back to my car. When I got to a small clearing there were lots of birds enjoying the sunshine. Quite a few cardinals stood out against the snow but would not allow me to approach close enough for a good picture with the little pocket camera I Had brought along.
It was a very enjoyable day and one of my favorite winter activities.

I have a Logitech QuickCam that developed a problem. It worked well for about 10 months but now will not focus when zoomed close up, only when zoomed far out.
I went to Logitech's site and filled in the customer support form.
After a few emails back and forth the support rep agreed the cam was defective. She asked me to email a copy of my receipt. I told her I didn't have the receipt but had registered the product on line. That was enough for her to establish that it was still in warranty so she sent me instructions to ship it to them and they will send a replacement.
This was great service, with no BS. It also demonstrates the value of registering your products with the manufacturer. I will update this when the new cam arrives.
Update, Feb 2. Today I received the new cam from Logitech and it works well. I took the pic attached to this entry with it. And I am broadcasting as I write this.
Logitech's customer service is first rate. I highly recommend them and also strongly suggest that you register your purchases online. My online registration enabled me to prove that the cam was still under warranty because I didn't save the receipt.

I don't usually make resolutions but.........

First off, I want to wish a happy and healthy new year to all who stop by to read this. I hope 2009 is full of exciting adventures for you.
I normally don't make new year's resolutions because they are quickly forgotten by me and are rarely fulfilled. This year I am making 2 resolutions and hopefully by posting them here I will be more inclined to make them happen.
The first is to lose weight, I want to drop 15 pounds, or more.
The second is to meet everyone in my friends network in person in 2009. I have attempted to meet several of my friends but for various reasons the meetings never took place. My network is small, I only keep friends with whom I actually communicate, so this is very doable. I also love to travel around our great country on my motorcycle; this is a very good reason to do so.
So, to all my friends, don't say I didn't warn you, and don't try to hide.

Memories of Christmas Past.

I grew up in Philadelphia, and raised my family there also. I remember how the big department stores in center city would have elaborate window displays at Christmas time. My parents would take us downtown at night to walk around and look at all the displays in the four major department stores windows. There were lights and decorations and animated mannequins in all types of Christmas settings. No merchandise was displayed in the windows, these displays were for entertainment only. We would purchase hot roasted chestnuts from the street vendors and enjoy them as we strolled around enjoying the wonderful Christmas scenes in the windows.
Inside the stores there would be a Christmas Village to walk through on the way to see Santa. Each store had one of these set up with many homes and shops to gaze at as you waited your turn in line to tell Santa what you wanted him to bring you.
Wanamakers had a fabulous Christmas tree three stories high in the main court. Every half hour the lights on the tree would be animated and the fountains in front of the tree danced in synchronization with music from the world famous pipe organ. This was an amazing feat of technology in the 1950's. I was fortunate to be able to share these beautiful displays with my own children before the end of the downtown department store era.
Of course I have many other fond memories of Christmas past, but I think that this stands out because it will never be duplicated again.

My visit to TJ

I went to the M&G at TJ's Lasting Impressions this weekend and had a great time.
It was my first time at TJ's ( also my first time at an adult club ) so one of the employees gave me a tour and explained the rules. I hung out at the bar and just observed for a while. There was a young lady there, in her 20s, who just got a boob job and she was showing them off to anyone interested. Her boyfriend was showing the before picture. She definitely got her money's worth. Of course some of the other ladies had to show her their tits, so it was quite entertaining as they compared, felt, and tasted each other's boobs.
There were about 10 bedrooms available. If the door is open it's OK to watch, but you can only enter if invited. If the door is closed it means keep out. The staff checks the rooms frequently to change sheets after use. It was a very clean place. Once in a while I would walk around checking the rooms and the hot tub, but found no action early in the evening. The hot tub was the size of a home pool, with submerged ledge all around for seating and an island that was also submerged, but only by about 2 inches.
After a couple of hours I went by the hot tub and there were people in it. One lady was sitting on the island with two guys sucking her boobs and a lady eating her. Two other guys were in there watching. I went to the locker area and got undressed and went into the hot tub. This was the first time I had ever gone skinny dipping. LOL. People came and went, lots of fucking and sucking going on. No one invited me to join so I just enjoyed the shows. After I had enough hot water I got out and showered and dressed, then went back to the bar.
By now there were many topless ladies wandering around, and the lady with the boob job was walking around with just a dental floss thong.
There was some action to watch in the rooms too, but again no invite to join. By about 1 a.m. I decided to head home. It was worth the trip and I'll do it again soon.

Where did the summer go?

Labor Day weekend is upon us and many folks are asking where did the summer go?
Since mid April I have ridden over 18,000 miles on my motorcycle. I know that isn't the official start of summer but this is my blog and I can start where I want. I rode the cycle across the country to visit my son and daughter in law, and grandson in California. During that trip I stopped in Arizona to visit my cousin and also attended a motorcycle rally in Tucson, where I ate too much.
I rode across London Bridge, which is now in Lake Havasu, AZ. I visited Tombstone, AZ where many of the buildings of the Wyatt Earp era are still standing.
I attended a motorcycle rally in Lancaster County, PA, that is hosted by our local chapter of our club, where I ate too much. We provide guided tours of the area and I planned and led 3 rides, one each day. The planning takes many days of riding around and trying out different routes and finding rest stops and restaurants. I would estimate about 10 days of riding to plan the rides.
I planned and led 4 after breakfast rides for our club, that took about 8 days to map out.
I participated in about 8 rides led by other members of our club. . I went to at least 11 club breakfasts, I attended 6 ice cream socials and 3 club dinners, 2 of which I planned.
I planned and led a 3 day trip to Wellsboro, PA, with 27 other bikers. Planning this took 3 trips up to Wellsboro.
I attended a 3 day rally in Titusville Pa, where I ate too much.
I visited 10 of 17 old fashioned diners for a contest. I'll get the other 7 but not before Labor Day.
My motorcycle and I rode across the Susquehanna river on the only wooden paddle wheel ferry still operating in the U.S.A. We do it a least once each summer.
I rode to Michigan for a family visit. We went on a beautiful sunset cruise on Lake Michigan. I had family from Michigan visit me twice.
I visited my granddaughters - who live about 60 miles from here - almost once a week. We always have fun. I spent time with my son and daughter in law while I was there, but it was mostly about the girls.
I spent 3 days at a family reunion when my son and his family flew in from California.
I attended two street fairs where I ate too much.
I attended one minor league baseball game.
I have spent many hours chatting and camming with the fair ladies here on passion and have made some good friends. I had two wonderful evenings with one of them recently.
Sometimes the things we didn't do stand out as well. I didn't have to visit any friends or relatives in the hospital. I didn't have to attend a funeral for a loved one or a friend. No one asked me to lend them money.
So, that's where my summer went, where did yours go?

Have a Happy Independence Day!

This is being posted a day early but I want to wish everyone a happy Independence Day.
I hope you have plans for a great celebration because that is what this day is about, celebrating our Independence and Freedom. Have fun at the pool or beach, or the park. Baseball games are a great way to celebrate. You can't get much more American than baseball and hot dogs. And don't miss the fireworks. Most communities stagger their fireworks so if you miss them in your town you can catch them the next night in another nearby town.
If you are one of the many who must work on the 4th I empathize with you. I worked many holidays in my career, I know what it's like. Be nice to all the folks who are working on this holiday. Don't get upset if things go slowly because they are shorthanded. They don't really want to be there, but they are there to serve you.
It isn't inappropriate to thank the men and women in our armed forces on this great holiday. Even though they have other holidays dedicated to their honor it's always nice to thank them if you get an opportunity. The events of July 4th, 1776 set us on the road to freedom. Our military personnel make the daily sacrifices needed to keep that road open.
For me Independence Day is a day to reflect on how wonderful this country is, and how grateful I am to live here. It is also a day for some All American food. Hot dogs, hamburgers, Coca Cola, and beer brewed here in Pennsylvania.
However you may choose to celebrate our Independence I hope you have a wonderful day.

Honey, I'm home...... from Michigan.

I am back from my short trip to Michigan. Only had one full day there but had a great time with my family. We spent most of the day along the Lake Michigan Shoreline and ended the day with a sunset cruise on a two masted schooner. The lake was calm and the wind was not very strong so it was a nice relaxing cruise. The sunset was beautiful.
My ride home today was uneventful, which is a good thing. I only hit a few small showers that didn't amount to much. After I crossed back into PA the sun came out and stayed out for the rest of the ride home. My Gold Wing performed flawlessly, as usual. Even though I was only gone for 2 nights it's good to be home.

On the road again.

Tomorrow I leave bright and early heading to Michigan on my motorcycle. It's been over a month since I've gone on a trip lasting more than a day and I and the Gold Wing need it bad.. This won't be a very long trip, only 650 miles. One day out, one day there, one day back. Turnpike through PA, OH, and IN to save time. Back roads when I get to MIchigan. At least I get to ride all day and cross a few states. I try to make this trip once a year to visit family but it's usually for a few days more. I wanted to squeeze it in while my nephew and his wife will be there, I haven't seen them in a year. I haven't seen my other nephew since he left for Iraq in October of 07. He returned just before Christmas, in good health and with all the body parts he left with.
Other commitments prevent me from staying longer but at least I'll get to see all the members of our family's Michigan branch. Family is important. So are road trips.

Gay marriage now legal in California.

In case you haven't heard the latest news the courts in California have ruled that gay marriage is legal. I was delighted to read that yesterday. I believe that anyone who wants to have a committed relationship, with all that it entails, should have the same rights as anyone else, regardless of the gender of the couple. I know some of you will disagree, and that is your right.
If you disagree is it because of religious beliefs? If it is then you are most likely a hypocrite because most religions would frown on you belonging to a site like this. and don't say you are just here to chat because there are lots of places to chat that aren't plastered with naked photos. Also, I am not a biblical scholar but I have searched the bible for references to homosexuality and found them in the old testament. I could not find a quote of Jesus condemning homosexuality. Do you think He forgot to mention that one? I doubt that, given the fact that He is God. He is quoted for just about everything else, why not homosexuality? Could it be that it isn't a sin to love someone of the same gender?
Maybe you disagree because "Gay marriage destroys the sanctity of marriage". I love that one. The only people who can destroy the sanctity of marriage are the couple in the marriage. No one else can. And, if you haven't noticed, hetero couples have been doing a pretty good job of destroying the sanctity of marriage all by themselves.
If those who disagree would be truthful with themselves I think they would find that they are biased and prejudiced against gays simply because they don't like the idea of homosexuality.
Committed gay couples deserve the same rights and benefits as hetero couples. They should be able to have their partner on the same health insurance policy. They should be able to have survivor benefits from employers and the government, just like hetero couples. They should be able to manifest their love for one another in a ceremony in front of their family and friends. Please don't tell me that many states offer gay commitment services, it's not the same thing.
California has given gay couples all of this. Now maybe the rest of the country will wake up and follow California's lead. California is a trend leader and we love to follow them in their stupid trends, let's see if we follow them on this one. I hope so, in the name of equality.
