Fielding at Silly Point

[It's slowly creeping up to one year] It's now shot past one year since I first joined this site. Here my very own piece of this universe.
I'm a cricket fan, hence the cricket reference in the blog name. The Silly Point position is precauriously close to the batter, and one can often get injured there. Having said that, it can be a very exciting place to be, where the fast reflexes come to the fore. Not having much time to think, that's what my blog posts are like. Just straight reflexes on the fast pace of life, and here's what I make of it before putting any thought into it.
Hope you enjoy visiting, and don't get too bored if you're not a cricket fan. For those that are, feel free to get in touch with me and join me in the field of life.
Here's to you

Saw this idea in others blogs, so thought I'd add one here.
Same deal, if you would like to message me, put a comment here. This post will stay sticky, and no comments will be shown, so you can be sure that they are kept private.

Well it finally got me.
All my years of playing indoor cricket, fielding up close to the batter at silly point, my number came up.
The weekend just gone was the Victoria 6-a-side country champs, a weekend full of cricket and drinking. I was all but ten minutes into the first game, where a batter played a full bodied drive straight into my nose, knocking me down and out.
Shabs was called up to drive me out to the hospital, but alas my nose is to remain kinky
I had to watch the rest of the tournament from the sidelines, watching the best of Traralgon take down Ballarat, Shepparton and other teams.
Not to worry, I am on the mend, and will be back to taking the court with my regular team on Wednesday, though it may take me a bit of time to work up the courage to field at that point again

Without a house

But not homeless. Followers of my blog would know that I have had my house up for sale, and recently had a buyer.
The settlement date for it is on Monday, so this weekend was our last opportunity to clean it out.
After hiring a truck from Budget, and having Shabs drive it for me We managed to get all things out and get it all cleaned up.
Ah, the memories of the house, the good times and bad, but I don't think I will be missing the house. Things were starting to break down on me, and I'm definitely no handyman, barely knowing one end of a hammer from another. lol.
But, from Monday, it now becomes some one else's problem.
On to the next

Trivial Secrets

Does your partner keep some trivial details secret from you? Do they put pressure on your relationship with your partner?

Sometimes, partners feel the need to keep small details from each other, something they are ashamed of. But I think these things shared will often strengthen a relationship, and prove a long lasting and sharing future.

Visit from my sister

The long weekend saw us having a visit from my sister who came down from the NSW coast. She will be moving to the Gold Coast next week, and she wanted to come and pay a visit for the weekend prior to moving further away. Also it was a great for her to get away from some kerfuffles that were happening back her way.

It was fantastic to catch up with her, having a few (ie, many) drinks on the Saturday night. To our surprise, we had a great night in, we didn't feel the need to go out and party, we just played a few games on the Wii, and some Singstar and Buzz Quiz games on the console, and inbetween, chatting up about all the goings on in her life, all the stuff we haven't caught up on or chatted about in the past years.

She is an amazing girl, hard to believe that she comes from the same parents as myself (Another photo of her is a few blog posts ago). But looks aside, it's amazing how we're both alike in our views, our outlooks, and our feelings.

This one is going to be great, the kids are sleeping over at their friends place

Hoorraaay!

Do you look forward to having a few drinks after work on Friday?

Heating up too much?

With the cold weather hitting us, freezing nights and frosty mornings, we're all turning on our heaters and clinging to our warm blankies.

Do you like to have the heater up high and wander around in shorts and t-shirt, or do you have it down low and snuggle into a warm blankie?

Can't smell a thing

For the past three weeks, I've been a victim of this accursed cold. Been going through quite a number of boxes of tissues, wishing I could stick a small Chinese cracker up my nose and set it off to unblock the nose jam up there.
One of the more annoying things I've noticed with this cold is that I seem to have lost my sense of smell.
I just can't seem to smell a thing. Over the weekend, we walked through a shopping centre, the others complained when walking past a perfume section, but I was unable to get a whiff of any scent.
It also really takes away the pleasure of eating food too, as part of the taste of food comes from the smell. Things just seem a bit blander.

But one smell I really do miss, is smelling the baked bread from the bread maker first thing in the morning.

If you were to lose your sense of smell, what smell would you miss the most?

My house is sold

Early this year, I put my house up on the market.
Well I finally got notice today that a reasonable offer has been made, and I've accepted and put my scribble on the contracts.
So barring any financial woes on his side, my house should be his within 30 days.
Woohoo!
I'll be hanging out at Shab's place for the next year, and then start hunting around for another house, depending on how things are then.

Who knows, could it be a house in England? Maybe America? My company has just bought some power stations over there... could it be a small flat in Melbourne?

Or my ideal would be a nice double-story with lock up garage (and two bathrooms a must) right here in Traralgon.

Gonna have a few (too many) drinks tonight to celebrate

Cheers.

... goes the Aussie cricket team... this time, without me.
It was about this time last year that I had the best trip ever, heading over for the Cricket World Cup.

A fresh looking Aussie team has touched down in Jamaica and are ready to take on the West Indies.
As much as I would have loved to gone over there and experience it all again, I will have to resort to watching the updates on Sports Tonight and discussing it with my travel mates from last year.

Besides, I have only just paid off that holiday with this weeks pay. It's time to start saving up for our honeymoon to England next year, which will be the next best holiday ever

Letting the partner drive

I love to drive when we go on holidays. However, on our recent holiday, I handed over the wheel to my partner for a short leg of the journey.

Here's a photo with my feet up, while she has all the fun around the windy roads.

I didn't mind much that she took the wheel, nothing wrong with her driving at all... only thing wrong is me not driving But I guess I gotta share the fun sometimes.

Do you let your partner drive?

Can't think of anything other than 'My Blog'?

Had a laugh when I saw all but two of the newly created blogs having a blog title of 'My Blog'.
Surely it can't be too hard to come up with something in a title there? The wittier, the betterer
