Ugly Americans

Years ago, Americans were widely viewed as being "ugly", interfering in foreign affairs world wide. They smile and hold a hand out for our money, while the other hand gives us the finger.
What I saw was a willingness to hate us on one hand, but still wanted our help and aid. We freed oppressed peoples, feed the poor, showed them how live free and govern themselves. But, the friendliness just really wasn't there to Americans.
Now, our current leadership isn't helping things by pissing off our allies.......and enemies. "Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer!"

Secrets Kept

I've kept secrets for many years, from '72 to '82 "service". No details disclosed, only a vague snippet of what I did.
The classified files that crossed my desk to be analyzed would shock n scare Americans today! The things I saw shocked me at first, and to this day, I can only smile inside when news or TV ask questions about "secrets". If they only knew the truth!
I've seen files disappear after I've reviewed them, lost in cyberspace, as it were. Too "sensitive" to remain in semi-open domains, even though marked "Top Secret, Need to Know Basis Only". Amazing the signatures that had signed off on those files!
Maybe one day, the "Brass" with declassify some of them, but might be 100 years.

Critter Feed

Sent away for some "critter feed", meant to feed squirrels, birds n deer. It contained corn kernels, sunflower seeds, loose peanuts n shelled peanuts. Putting it out, began to see some bees "licking" the mix in the feeder. At first was just a few, but soon grew in numbers, to 20 or 30. Thinking to slow or stop them, at night I sprayed the mix with the hose to wash off what was attracting them. Didn't work! So, next night I scooped out the mix, moving it to far reaches of our backyard, placed a bug-zapper close by to thin their numbers.
Now, in the Southwest, we have invasive bees, African Killer bees, very aggressive. They have even killed people when the swam attacked for little or no reason. These bees in our yard were becoming a problem, even chasing us from our porch.
The bug-zapper did not help, in fact became overrun by a swam of bees, fully covered. That night, I covered the zapper, carried it off (carefully, still covered in bees), scooped up n disposed of the feed mix in a covered bucket. The next morning, the "scout" bees got chased off with full can of military grade pepper spray. Thankfully, none now show up in our yard!
Digging out the feed bag from the trash, found out the feed had been spray coated with apple juice, a sweet concoction the bees would love! Never would caught that, until too late! Will stick to just feed corn on the cob n raw peanuts from now on!

All in One Week

Last weeks, temps have been mostly in the 100's, some 110's (25 this year), lows in the 90's to 80's.
Now, next weeks are supposed to be in the mid to low 90's for highs, 70's to 60's for lows! All in one week, fall and nicer weather are here! Will be the same for our winter (BRRRRRRRRRR)!

I've often wondered how the animals around Phoenix,AZ survive, where they get their water. Thought it mostly the infrequent rains. Not so!
Saw the squirrels run up to our pool, hang off the edge, drinking from the pool!

Do they really think I don't notice them????
New black Chevy Suburban, tinted windows, all kinds of antennae on the roof, 2 neat men in suits following me in traffic. Park across from me at the store, facing me, watching me walk into the store, and walk out. Easy enough to loose them, but I don't bother, no real need, they can track me though my phone.
So petty and pointless. But, that's our tax dollars at work, following a retired old man just doing daily errands! I don't talk anyone, use the self checkout (GOD! I love those things! No idol chit-chat from a cashier!), scan my stuff, bag things right, and pay without interaction with people. No one visits the house, love to order stuff from Amazon, so don't have to go out.
But, they still seem to have extra money to follow a retired, old, half crippled, grumpy hermit around! Guess it keeps them busy, anyway!

Got A New Device For Back

Got a new device for my back to help bone fusion heal. It's an eletro stimulation system that sends low frequency pulses through my belly and back to the fusion to help it "grow".
It's a bit pricey for a belt..........$5500.00, but insurance has covered it. All tolled, bills are now over $150,000!

Back from Fishing

Had a most enjoyable, peaceful time in White Mountains!
Camped by the lake, Hawley Lake, on Indian Res. Fishing was good, lots of trout. The tall Ponderosa pines are so awe inspiring, the wild-life much varied. Can see elk, horses, deer, real bushy squirrels.
Very relaxing! And, so cool, mild temps, mostly in the 80's in the day, 60's at night! And, made it back before the last of the year vacationers for the holiday came in! Don't like crowds!

HMMMMMMMMM, think will schedule a fishing trip next week! Long over due!  Nothing on the calendar to interfere! Do love the challenge of catching them!
